The Challenge
Moraine Valley Community College (MVCC) needed to support a wide range of programs (CCNA, CCNP, cybersecurity, virtualization) without taking over classroom time for lab maintenance. The Center for Systems Security and Information Assurance (CSSIA), an NSF Advanced Technology Education National Resource Center hosted at MVCC, also needed infrastructure to deliver faculty training and host cyber security competitions at a national scale.
The Solution
Both organizations deployed NETLAB+ as their core lab infrastructure. MVCC uses it to give learners 24/7 access across 11+ programs including CCNA, CCNP, CCNA Security, CEH, CISSP, A+, Security+, and more. CSSIA uses NETLAB+ with virtualization to deliver faculty training nationwide and to host the Midwest CCDC and National Cyber League competitions.
"NETLAB+ enables our students to practice industry skills. Our students have around-the-clock access to real equipment and virtual machines. Our instructors value the lab automation and management."
- Dr. John Sands
"We use NETLAB+ to remove the walls of the classroom. With NETLAB+ we can deliver training or execute cyber security competitions anywhere, anytime, and anyplace."
- Erich Spengler
The Results
MVCC learners get round-the-clock access to real equipment and virtual machines, and educators benefit from automated lab scheduling and management. CSSIA uses the same platform to deliver training and competition environments anywhere in the country, removing geographic barriers for both faculty and competitors.
