The Challenge
Richland College, part of the Dallas County Community College District, needed to prepare military veterans with no prior Linux experience to earn a CompTIA Linux+ Powered by LPI certification, and to do it in a 13-week program designed as a pathway to Amazon AWS apprenticeships.
The Solution
The college built the program around NDG Linux I and Linux II, delivered through Cisco Networking Academy. Learners read the coursebook, ran commands in real Linux lab environments, and worked through structured exercises tied to the certification exam objectives. The integrated lab environments meant veterans practiced what they read about, in the same session.
